Blog Entry: Wise words love mum...(moms extract from A.samson book) ALL RELATIONSHIPS have their ups and downs AMANDA SAMSON shows you how to manage the most important one - the one you have with yourself. The relationship with yourself can only be changed by you. It should be the centre of your focus, not in a self-centred way, but in a way that honours you as the central point of your life. Only you have the possibility and responsibility to find your path through life. It took me a long time to return to the essential sense of who i am. There is no doubt it can take hard work and dedication to find yourself and remain, as best you can, standing firmly in that light. When we find this place, we connect with the magical universe around us and honour and nurture our own sense of being in the world. That is the essential aim of magic Sometimes along the way we get truly lost, but the first step to returning to youself is to recognise that you are lost. Once you have done that you can slowly pick your way back to the right path. We are constantly bombarded by ideas of what we should be doing. It's easy to lose our centre and become drawn by peers, advertising and society, to want more than we need. The loss of relationship to the self can be devastating: it may be intensley personal; it may expand beyond our inner thoughts; we could find ourselves under the sway of people who abuse us. When we wake up to these feelings it can be very painful and all too easy to slip back into not knowing-through denial or the use of drugs and so on. To begin to move towards yorself requires courage and sometimes help from others. Women are particularly conditioned to be unselfish, helpful and caring and we sometimes forget that we need to honour ourselves first. This lifetime isn't for us to lament the intangable, fleeting and unimportant trappings, but rather to shine our lights no matter how tiny and flickering the seem at times. Nurturing the magical spark within me may make it grow brighter and help others shine brighter.Then hopefully together we can make a larger, stronger and more magical light to chase away the shadows.
